Interested in being a surrogate

Hiya. I am a 27 year old mumma to 2 gorgeous kids and have been thinking for a wee while about the possibility of being a gestational surrogate to help someone else have their baby.

I'm interested in getting to know some familes /coupleswho are thinking about this option - or to talk to someone who's been through it!

It seems like there is no easy way in NZ for surrogates and intending parents to connect or meet each other? Are there any groups/organisation that help to connect the two? I am beginning to realise the legal issues around surrogacy are pretty frustrating!

Hi Chrissy, it is wonderful to hear you are interested in being a surrogate! It is the greatest gift possible. I am looking for a special lady to be my surrogate Mum. I cannot carry for medical reasons. I know a lot about the process and can give you more info. Please email me at magichorses@zoho.com
All the best, Lisa

Re: Interested in being a surrogate

Hi Chrissy

What an amazing gesture you are considering! I still find it hard to get my head around the selflessness of surrogacy in the likes of NZ and Australia where surrogacy remains altruistic. My husband and I are in the process of looking for a surrogate like so many in NZ. We also have a post on here, I think entitled "could you be our tummy mummy". What I have learnt is the importance of finding a couple that you gel with naturally. There unfortunately is no formal way of matching with intended parents (IPs) - aka those wishing to find a surrogate. However there is a super amazing forum called the NZ surrogacy forumhttp://www.nz-surrogacy.com. I have been on this forum for a while. There are past and present surrogates that have an abundance of knowledge around surrogacy and the trials this brings. There are also a lot of surrogates looking for people just like you. If you are not so keen to join a forum I can put you in touch with a previous surrogate who remains active in the surrogacy community?

Hi Crissy,

My name is Millie, I am 26 and am from Dunedin.
As the others have also said in this thread, it is so nice knowing that there are people out there willing to help.
There are a lot of very deserving people that could do with your help, including my sister. She has had a really rough time with her fertility journey that has resulted from her childhood cancer. Currently she has one frozen embryo made from my donated egg and her partner's sperm. Unfortunately I cannot carry the child for her. I would love to tell you more about it if you are interested and decide to pursue surrogacy option.

Re: Interested in being a surrogate

Hi Chrissy,
We have been trying to have a baby since last 10 years with our dreams and hopes all the way. But unfortunately, that dream did not become a true for the past 10 years.

The reason for that was, I was diagnosed with severe Adenomyosis. I was experiencing severe blood loss from continuous severe bleeding last year and was experiencing near death situation each day throughout the blood loss and had been having 14 blood units. I lost my previous job during last year due to continuous hospitalisations. The doctors said that this a high risk for life if I tried to conceive and was saying strictly to not conceive. We were filled with so much grief and hopelessness.

After 10 years of trying, the only last hope left is on surrogacy and is sharing this sad experience wishing that you can feel us and help us. We really know how priceless this help is and will be so thankful.
