1658042320 Total Posts: 2 Joined: July 17, 2022	Hi our names are Rob and Hetty, we have been married 4 years and live in Auckland. Sadly we cannot carry a baby of our own so we are looking for an amazing person to be a gestational surrogate and help us start our family. Early 2021, Hetty underwent emergency open heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm and type-A dissection caused by an extremely rare (only 500 known cases globally) genetic mutation called ACTA2. After the surgery we were given the crushing news that it would be too dangerous for her to carry our own baby. After receiving a second, third, and fourth opinion from various cardiologists, we finally admitted defeat on the prospect of becoming parents. At this point we’d already been on a 2 year fertility journey and had been on the wait list for IVF for 9 months. With only a few months to go before we were at the front of the queue this all happened and the rug was well and truly pulled from under us. We were informed the ACTA2 gene has a 50/50 chance of passing onto any embryos we are able to create. Because of this we were insistent that we would not risk passing it on and due to the amazing help we’ve received from Fertility Plus, we are now hopeful again! They confirmed they are able to genetically test our embryos for the gene mutation prior to implantation. So that’s the first part done!! In September this year we are due to start the IVF process to create embryos that can be then be tested…YAY! Once complete this is where YOU, someone you know, or even someone they know can hopefully help us! The surrogate guidelines we have been advised on: - they have to have at least one child or have finished having their family - be within the age of 22 and 40 - be a non smoker and of healthy weight - and have the support from their partner and; or a good support system It’s been a rollercoaster 4 years so far but we are so hopeful that one day we’ll have a family of our own. There is still a long journey ahead and we can’t do this without the help of someone wonderful. Please message us if you think this is you or someone you might know. I believe I can help. I work with an international surrogacy team to find surrogate mothers within a month or two. Surrogates who meet not only your wishes, but also the highest health requirements and have at least one healthy child. I will be happy to answer your questions and give you all the help you need.
