PCOS and wanting to get pregnant...

Hi,

Well I don't know if this has come up in this forum but I thought I would try. I am 28yrs of age and am getting married next year. My fiance and I are really wanting children but I dont think that would be likely. I have PCOS... and its quiet sever. People say keep your hopes up and they know people who have had children who also have PCOS. Yes I know people too but Im worried about myself for a few reasons. My fiance and I have been sexually active for years without protection and nothing has happened. Even when my hopes have been up.... they just get let down. I have been training for last 2yrs and have lost a drastic amount of weight and still no luck. Diet has changed and still no luck. Im lost and confused as it could be something majorly wrong on my side and I want to know what steps I could take in the next year to bring my body to a more hopeful chance of having children. Anyone out there in the same boat or have the same worries?

Re: PCOS and wanting to get pregnant...

Hey Chelliegirl. I also have PCOS and am finding it extremely difficult to conceive, so I do understand where you are coming from. My problem is that I don't have a regular cycle (anovular) so I don't actually ovulate by myself. Due to this, I had to have laparoscopic ovarian drilling surgery (google it for more information). Prior to the surgery I tried Clomiphene but was unresponsive to it entirely, so the surgery was my only hope of then naturally ovulating. My only options after the surgery I'd be left with was either daily hormonal injections until the right levels are produced then a trigger shot or to go through IVF (both of which are very expensive). I had the surgery beginning of April and have managed to ovulate twice since then by myself which is a massive breakthrough considering I haven't ovulated by myself for 7 years!! I definitely recommend seeing a fertility specialist or an OBGYN sooner rather than later so you can get the ball rolling, especially since it's been 2 years.

Re: PCOS and wanting to get pregnant...

Hi Ladies,
I am 27yo and have PCOS. I was diagnosed around 21. My partner and I are also struggling to conceive and are under Repromed fertility specialists.
This is not directly related to fertility but other health concerns related to PCOS such as increased weight. I have been seeing a doctor who uses bio-identical hormones. This has really helped me. And after having my hormones balanced weight and some other health issues have improved significantly. One of the big ones I have taken (prior to TTC) was natural progesterone. And I remain on metformin and whole thyroid still.

Hope this may be helpful for someone.

Hi Hapiness.
I'm also at Repromed. Do you visit the one based in Remuera? Do you see Guy or Karen? I've found them super onto it and very helpful smiling If you're keen, check out this link:http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#%21/groups/TTCsupportgroup/...
It's a closed group (friends and family won't see that you're commenting on stuff) so if you join it, you'll then be accepted and since I've joined I've found so many other ladies out there like us.
Hugs x

Oh thanks for that Hannah.
I have been seeing Guy- he has been great. We've Only actually had one face to face appointment with him so far. As I am in Whangarei. But I have visited the clinic in auckland previously. But will see Guy mostly in Whangarei where possible. But he has been great answering all my questions on the phone and getting back to me with results.
I'll look into that group now!

You're welcome smiling I've heard good things about Guy also. How awesome is it that you're able to have contact with him on the phone. Bet that saves you a heap!!
The group is just amazing. Regular posts about people who have joined, introducing their TTC journey and being able to relate. So glad my friend told me about it smiling See you on the group!!

Re: PCOS and wanting to get pregnant...

I want to thank you for this wonderful program. After years of trying to conceive and a failed IVF and a failed FET, I ordered Pregnancy Herb @ fiokporspiritualtemple@gmail.com According to my infertility doctor it was “very unlikely” that I could be pregnant. But here i am pregnant for the first time in life. I got pregnant naturally just 2 months after my failed FET and after following the Instructions given to me by Dr. I am now 7 month pregnant . I am spreading this story to whomever I meet and who suffers from infertility. he can also restore a broken relationship and make your wish come through.. Do not delete this post, i am helping somebody out here... believed me this is real

Re: PCOS and wanting to get pregnant...

Hi there, I have a cousin who also has PCOS and she still had 2 beautiful daughters now, ages 12 and 10 respectively. I think you could still conceive but also with the help of an OB-gyne. Let me also share here with you a site I've been using to track my ovulation period and I hope it could also help you on your TTC journey, good luck.http://www.ovulation-predictor.org/...
