Public vs Private

Hi all,

We are new to this whole journey and after some advice. We are aged 32 and 33 and have been trying to conceive for 12 months. My cycle has become increasingly irregular and I have had some anovulatory cycles. Our GP has just referred us via the public system (2 weeks ago) but we are yet to hear anything. We have read that the wait for even an initial appointment can be up to 3 months and we are starting to think we do not want to wait that long when we do not even know if we will qualify for public funding.
We have already had a lot of testing through our GP including monthly progesterone for ovulation, sperm analysis (which came back fine), an ultrasound because I was experiencing a lot of pain at ovulation (also came back fine), full preconception blood tests twice, and we are about to do AMH bloods too. Will this save us money if we go private?
We have been to an information evening at Genea Oxford in Christchurch and they seem great and are also close to my work which is convenient for appointments. So my questions are:
Has anyone had experience with them? Would you recommend them?
What are the pros of going private?
How much does an initial consultation cost?
What is the process if we go private and then become eligible for public funding?

Thanks in advance smiling

Hi wishingandhoping,

Apologies if you have received all the info already that you were looking for! However it may be useful for others. Genea Oxford should be able to give you all the information you require. Initial appointments are typically around the $300 mark, and there is a criteria used to see if you are eligible for Public Funding, but Genea Oxford can also advise you on that. Good luck on your journey, I am on a similar one to you.

Kind regards,

It sounds like you’re navigating a challenging journey. Many people have had positive experiences with Genea Oxford, especially due to their supportive staff and convenient location. Going private can offer quicker access to appointments and tailored care, which can be beneficial given your situation. Initial consultation costs vary, so it’s best to check directly with them. If you become eligible for public funding later, you can usually discuss transferring your care I wish you all the best!

One of the biggest benefits is that you won’t have to wait as long as you would in a public system. You can get an appointment quickly and start your treatment sooner. Suika game

Many patients have reported positive experiences with Genea Oxford, citing their professionalism and supportive environment. It might be helpful to look for reviews or connect with others who have been through their papa's games programs.
