New Standard for fertility services
Health and Disability Services Standards 8134:2021 - Public Consultation
The Standards Review has been a significant undertaking, with the project timeline commencing from December 2018 and a planned completion date of April 2021. The timeline was delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The revised standard reflects shifts towards more person- and whānau-centred health and disability services. People are empowered to make decisions about their own care and support in order to achieve their goals, with a stronger focus on outcomes for people receiving support.
It will have a significant impact on the future of health care in New Zealand.
It is designed as the minimum requirements necessary to present fair and equitable health and disability services that aim to improve the experience and outcomes of people and whānau and reduce care variation.
Earlier health and disability service Standards were published in 2007, 2008, and 2012.
Following extensive consultation the three standards have been amalgamated.
Public Comment is open until 13 January 2020.
